Ancient Utopias

“Ancient Utopias” is a sonic response to a world in flux — a world pregnant with the hope of technological salvation, haunted by the guilt of earth’s devastation, in search of its new spiritual home. Drawing inspiration both from digital techno-utopias and old healing traditions, “Ancient Utopias” forges a sonic landscape that seeks to find harmony in the dichotomy of ancient & futuristic, organic & machinic, dark & light. Karoliina Pärnänen’s sets are characterized by unforgiving bass and complex rhythmic patterns. Her dynamic sets refuse to be pinned down to any specific genre or tempo, but can rather be defined through a unique leftfield selection and a playful approach to mixing.
